Nice to see a few new bike stores on the scene as the spring gets closer.
Added: Dan’s Mountain Bike Repair - 1501 Woodbine Ave.
Added: Red Arrow Bikes - 19 Kensington Ave.
Added: Riders - 80 Geary Ave.
All have been added to BikeFixFinder and are available through BikeFixTO (iPhone/iPod Touch app).
Nice. The Toronto Police have an online bicycle registry. Registering won’t make your bike any safer, but if it is stolen and it is recovered, then the police can reunite you with your bike.

In the past, registering required showing a receipt as proof of ownership. I guess the cops realized that thieves won’t be inclined to register. If two people both claim the same bike, then the cops will know that one of them is a dirty crook.
The initial BikeFixFinder site was somewhat of a quick hack to present the same data as the BikeFixTO iphone app. I’ve just pushed an update to the website that ads a few more features. Mainly, a list of all locations and each location has a dedicated page. That makes it easier to bookmark your favorite location and makes the whole site a bit more search-engine friendly.
The only outstanding item on my TODO list is to parse and display the current hours of operation. Then the next big update will be to fill in some of the details for the locations that aren’t in the downtown core.
Quick release wheels normally make your wheels easy to steal. But if you happen to use the bike racks in the Distillery District, they make your whole bike easy to steal.
Yes, this is some bad design. Even worse than the OCAD bike rack winner.
A new version (1.1) has been submitted to App Store and is awaiting approval. It uses MapKit which replaces the static maps with dynamic, scrollable/zoomable maps. A huge improvement!
